Discover NorthStandard's latest app: The Mariner’s Role in Collecting Evidence (MRCE) Handbook

NorthStandard’s new app, The MRCE Handbook, allows internal reporting of an incident from ship to shore. The app has been designed exclusively for NorthStandard, formerly North entered Members and listed Correspondents, to streamline the maritime incident evidence gathering process.

Who is The MRCE Handbook app for?

The app is suitable for anyone working on or visiting a vessel, to support the collection of evidence to support insurance claims and disputes. Administrators of the app can invite crew members to use the app with the intention of reporting on incidents.

What is an administrator?

Each Member can assign anyone from within their company to be an ‘administrator’ for the app. The administrator, who must have a MyNorth account, will collate the names and email addresses of those who are to have access to the app (‘users’). The administrator will then upload these details onto our website and we will do the rest!

Typical roles for administrators include, but are not exclusive to: shore-based technical, operational and marine departments of shipping companies. There is a simple onboarding process, administrators can onboard 1 or 1,000 users in one submission.

The simple and easy to use app, enables users to efficiently and effectively collect evidence for incidents:

  • Easily create, save and send checklists
  • Sent checklists are saved in secure cloud storage until recipient downloads the checklist
  • Online and offline 24/7/365 access
  • Access to NorthStandard, formerly North’s, Mariner’s Role in Collecting Evidence Handbook and guidance
  • Upload supporting photo and video footage
  • Available only for NorthStandard Members and Correspondents

Data entered into the app is stored safely and securely in the cloud until the recipient downloads the checklist on their own device or computer. NorthStandard does not have access to the checklists and the uploaded evidential documents.

How to access The MRCE Handbook app

Your administrator will invite you to access The MRCE Handbook app via email. Please follow the instructions provided in the email to guide you through the process of accessing the app.

You will also need to be a MyNorth member before you can access the content of the app. Find out how to create a MyNorth account in our easy-to-follow step-by-step guide here: How to: register to MyNorth.

Once you have been invited to the app by your administrator, and created a MyNorth account, you will be ready to download The MRCE Handbook app onto your smart phone, or tablet. Find out how to download The MRCE Handbook app here. 

As soon as you’re logged into the The MRCE Handbook app, you will be able to immediately start creating checklists and gathering evidence.

Note: if app Administrators would like access to the app, they are required to include themselves within the CSV import process.
