Unrest in Venezuela Impacts Shipping
Oil Cargoes – Limited Impact
Local correspondents Global P&I advise that there is limited impact on the main oil facilities at Maracaibo, Punta Cardon and Jose Terminals.
Bulk Cargo Discharge Slows
There is disruption of some bulk cargo discharge due to the unrest impacting the availability of trucks. Vessels have had to reduce discharge rates to a minimum which has resulted in longer stays in port.
Our correspondents recommend that ship’s crew remain on board the vessel at all times while the vessel is in port. The vessel should also ensure that it fully complies with the requirements of the ISPS code.
Vessels proceeding to Venezuelan ports should request updated advice from local agents to establish what the current situation is at that particular port.
