Ukraine: Infected Wood Dunnage In Use At The Port of Mariupol
A P&I correspondent in Spain has reported that over the past three months the dunnage used for the shipment of steel plates has been found to be infected with coleopteran (beetles).
In all cases, the origin of the cargo and dunnage is reported to be the port of Mariupol, Ukraine. Although the dunnage was supported by the correct seal and certification indicating its compliance with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No15 (ISPM15), the Spanish authorities detected the infection and disallowed its landing at the ports of Bilbao, Gijon and Aviles.
We would like to remind Members of the importance of ensuring they have the correct certification: and to both check and record there is no infestation on the dunnage to be used at the load port.
