UAE – Vessels Carrying Oil and Product Cargoes
The Federal Transport Authority in the United Arab Emirates has issued a new circular regarding loading and discharging oil and product cargoes.
Circular No (2) 2018 lays out the requirements for foreign flagged vessels wishing to conduct operations with crude oil or products in the UAE which are:
1. The ship must be less than 25 years old from the date of delivery.
2. Must be classed with an IACS classification society or Emirates classification society.
3. Must be of double hull construction.
4. Must be constructed or adapted for the primary reason of carrying crude oil and products in bulk.
These requirements take immediate effect.
