The Club has recently been informed by local correspondents of actions being taken by the local Maritime Workers Union (SOMU) at the port of Bahia Blanca where they intend to disrupt the arrival of any vessel to the port flying the flags listed below which do not have on board a valid ITF Blue certificate. SOMU can prevent the arrival of vessels through the non-provision of tug boats. This action has now been extended to include the port of Buenos Aires. SOMU are also requesting an advance copy of the said certificate by e-mail.

The IG has been alerted and is investigating this matter with the ITF. In the meantime, Members should contact the Club in case they experience any problems in these or in other Argentinean ports.
