Philippines – Environmental Charges for Transiting the Coastal Waters of Zambales *Update*

North correspondent PANDIMAN Philippines Inc. has advised of an update regarding the recently reported vessel charges being requested in Zambales.
The Philippines Department of Justice and the Philippines Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), has confirmed that environmental charges imposed on international vessels transiting the coastal waters of Zambales in the Philippines are illegal.
Therefore members are advised to ignore all requests from Zambales regarding any such charges.

Environmental charges are again being imposed on international vessels transiting the provincial coastal waters of Zambales in the Philippines.
Advice from industry bodies is that these invoices should not be paid at this time whilst the local situation is clarified.
