Indonesia - Corn, Soya Bean and Wheat Imports
Indonesia imposes restrictions on imports of corn, soya bean and wheat cargo North recently published an article in Signals online which highlighted potential delays for ships discharging corn or soya bean cargoes at Indonesian ports. The article is accessible here.
Our Indonesian correspondents now advise that imports of wheat are also being restricted, with a monthly quota imposed by Bulog, the government logistics bureau. It is understood that possession of a valid import permit by the cargo receiver is not a guarantee that cargo discharge will be allowed in a timely manner. If monthly Indonesian import quotas have been met when a vessel arrives, then delays can be expected.
Ships carrying such cargoes for discharge in Indonesia are therefore advised to conduct appropriate precautionary measures before and during loading, during the voyage and at discharge. See our Loss Prevention Briefing – Carriage of Grain Cargoes
