Hong Kong: Air Pollution Regulation Enters Into Force This July
The Hong Kong Marine Department has issued a notice that the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Air Pollution) Regulation comes into force on 1 July 2016.
The amendments bring Hong Kong into line with the MARPOL Annex VI requirements for controlling NOx and SOx emissions and the energy efficiency of ships.
Shipowners, ship managers, operators, masters and classification societies are required to note and comply with the requirements of the Regulation after it enters into force.
