Argentina: Clarification of Sanitary Requirements
North’s local correspondent in Argentina has reported an increase in the number of enquiries related to sanitary regulations in Argentine ports.
The regulation imposes a mandatory requirement for certain vessels to have a cleaning and disinfection programme carried out in order to gain free practique.
North’s correspondent confirms that the regulation applies only to passenger vessels with a capacity for more than 14 passengers.
Some vessels have reported that the local health unit based in the port of San Lorenzo had extended the above requirement to cargo vessels. Argentina’s Ministry of Health has since written to the San Lorenzo health unit informing them that the regulation only applies to passenger vessels and NOT to cargo vessels.
