Amendments to Venezuelan Customs Laws
P&I Correspondents, Globalpandi, have advised of significant amendments to Venezuelan customs laws that come into force on 19 January 2015.
The changes include the requirement to register cargo manifests through an automated electronic system (Sidunea) at least 48 hours before the vessel’s arrival.
The new customs laws include a requirement for any corrections to cargo manifests or declarations of over-landed/short-landed cargo to be submitted by the day following the vessel’s arrival.
A failure to comply with the requirements of the new customs laws will result in a fine being imposed on the carrier and their agents.
For further information Members should contact their local P&I correspondents and port agents.
