Members should be aware that it has been reported in the maritime press that small quantities of high grade Alumina from Western countries, that may have military use, is being transported to states in the Gulf area for transhipment to Iran.
Members engaged to carry such cargoes to states in the Gulf should take extra care when exercising due diligence to ensure that the cargo is not ultimately destined for Iran, as such a cargo is likely to be in breach of US sanctions.
