Welcome to NorthStandard’s new and unique ECDIS Training Assessment (ETA) – the first of our suite of Get SET! innovations.
Although ECDIS is considered to be an excellent navigational aid, there’s a concern across the shipping industry that the required operational training for its safe implementation may be insufficient – leading to misuse, misunderstanding and onboard navigational errors that can lead to serious incidents with severe consequences.
Our unique, online ETA platform is designed to support crew members’ individual and collective ECDIS knowledge and skills with comprehensive, relevant and tailored training that goes beyond the mandatory and generic requirements.

The Mariner's Role in Collecting Evidence (MRCE) Handbook App
Our new app, The MRCE Handbook, allows internal reporting of an incident from ship to shore. The app has been designed exclusively for NorthStandard, formerly North, Members and Correspondents, to streamline the maritime incident evidence gathering process.
The simple and easy to use app, enables users to efficiently and effectively collect evidence for incidents:
- Easily create, save and send checklists
- Sent checklists are saved in secure cloud storage until recipient downloads the checklist
- Online and offline 24/7/365 access
- Access to NorthStandard, formerly North’s, Mariner’s Role in Collecting Evidence Handbook and guidance
- Upload supporting photo and video footage
- Available only for North Members and Correspondents
