Website Cloning – Awareness and Guidance

We have been made aware of a site which appears to be cloning the front end of North’s website (www.nepia.com), and we are currently in the process of having the offending site taken down. Cloning websites in this way is a fairly common occurrence, and based on previous experience, we expect the cloned site to be closed as soon as practically possible.

Following a thorough investigation, we can confirm that there has been no data security breach at North P&I and all our systems remain secure and operational as usual.

We want to take this opportunity to remind Members to remain vigilant of all cybercrimes and phishing scams, where criminals pretend to be legitimate in order to obtain sensitive personal and business information. We’ve previously provided detailed guidance on this topic in our Circular 2022/11, Phishing Emails Awareness and Guidance. As outlined in that Circular, North’s official domains for legitimate communications are listed below:

• @sunderlandmarine.com

If you’ve not done so already, please pass these domains on to your IT departments so they can be added to your organisation’s safe list.

Anyone receiving emails or correspondence from addresses outside of these domains, or if you’re encouraged to supply any details on a site outside of North’s official websites (www.nepia.com, www.mymindmatters.club, www.mindcall.org, or www.sunderlandmarine.com), please treat these with caution and double-check the sender details and telephone numbers.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of an email or website, please forward it to your IT support function before supplying any details or opening any attachments or links.
