Singapore Tech Company Brings AI to Peru’s Trout Farms
An increasing number of farms are relying on automation to assist staff with the day to day running of their sites.
AI is the next step in this process where systems learn how to interact with the farm and improve the performance of the farm. This system focuses on the feeding of trout in Lake Titicaca, Peru, by remotely delivering feed to the fish and monitoring their consumption. It reduces the chance of overfeeding, improving feeding efficiencies and reducing feed costs. As feeding was a labour intensive task on the farm, staff will now have more time for other husbandry operations.
With the increase in automation it is of the upmost importance that the staff monitor the performance of the system and maintain the ability to manually override the system. Should the system fail, staff will have to revert to feeding the fish by hand or manually controlling the feed system.
