Mumbai Port Health Authority has announced that ships that have called at ports in countries where Yellow Fever is endemic within 30 days from the date of departure will be subject to Indian port health rules and mandatory health checks.

Seafarers arriving from an affected country within six days from the date of departure will be required to produce a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate and those unable to produce a certificate will be quarantined until the end of the six day period.

The countries affected by Yellow Fever in Africa are: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Ivory Coast, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, South Sudan, Togo and Uganda. And in South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela.

Members with vessels calling at designated yellow fever countries 30 days before arriving at Mumbai should ensure that vaccination certificates are in order to avoid difficulties with the Port Health Authorities.
